Is it possible to have an "elegant" wedding at an aquarium?

I am thinking about having my winter wedding at an aquarium. I would want to use the colors silver and navy. The aquarium is beautiful, and it is lit up with beautiful aqua tones at night, but I wonder if it will come off as a sophisticated and elegant wedding, or if it will just seem like a fun party?|||I think it is a great idea to have a wedding at an aquarium. I couldn't have a wedding at an aquarium because it was too far away and most of our guests would need to be in hotels. This was too costly for us and for our guests.

If you have the opportunity then go for it. It would be very memorable seeing all the sea creatures and water. I like the silver idea but I'm not sure about the color navy. You should consider lighter colors because you want some contrast with the blue of the aquarium, and at the same time, you want to to create light to your theme to make certain things stand out such as center pieces, table covers etc.|||I think what you do food wise will have a huge effect on how elegant it seems. If you're serving your guests simpler foods in a more casual setting, it's not going to come off how you want it to. However, if you state that it's a black tie or black tie optional affair, so that everyone is really dressed up, and have waiters walking around with champagne , maybe even a formal dining area (even if the aquarium only has a cafeteria, I bet a decent caterer can dress it up with tablecloths, candles , etc.). The important thing to remember is that this is your wedding day, and that it's the marriage that really matters. The party lasts just a few hours, but hopefully what it's celebrating will last a lifetime.

Good luck, and congratulations!|||Yes, there are two aquariums in my area and I've seen pictures of wedding reception held there. It's unique, but definitely done very elegantly. Usually, the catering and design companies hired to decorate the area, do so very well and play on the lighting and shadows from the water.

The only way you could really make this type of reception tacky would be by making it too gimmicky. Don't do a theme, don't have fish favors or beachy type of centerpieces. Don't have shells or whatever.

Do everything simple! I would suggest a ton of candlelight and lots of color added with linens.

I googled "aquarium weddings" and I found this picture. It's really elegant, but in a unique way. http://www.weddingvenues-london.co.uk/us鈥?/a>|||You can have both!

Personally, I'd choose a lot of metallics and crystal in your decor. With all the reflection from the light and water, the effect will be dazzling.

You.ll have some gorgeous pictures. Wonder if the aquarium will allow a wedding?|||That would be amazing! Of course it would be elegant, as long as you rent out the place privately, so ther ewon't be families and crowds running around everywhere. I think it would be elegant, fish are always beautiful and peaceful. Congrats!|||what a great choice of venue! It can happen- I would ask to see pictures of previous weddings from that venue you're using for ideas. i wouldn't serve fish, though :P just a thought!|||Your first reaction when you hear its at an aquarium does not say elegant. You would have to work very very hard to turn it that way. People will probably laugh at where its at.|||It will be fun, unusual and memorable for sure. I do not know about "elegant" though.

Good luck|||Anyplace can be made elegant or cheesy. It's all in the details.
