I want an elegant wedding. My fiance really loves the western look. Any suggestions on how to compromise?

I want more of an elegant wedding but my fiance is a true cowboy. I want to have my ideal wedding but at the same time add some western themes in to show his personality. He will be wearing a cowboy hat and boots with his tux. Any ideas on how to add some western items and still stay elegant?|||I would work some western touches in subtle ways where they are a natural expected element and elegant with a slight variation. For example, have western bowties for the groomsmen.

If you are having a grooms cake, maybe the cake topper could be a rodeo bride and groom. Also, if you buy your own champagne flutes, you can have a cowboy design. Perhaps your first dance will be a country %26amp; western style song. Or some line dancing during the reception.

You can have a horseshoe charm sewn on to your garter. You can buy some white "western" fringe and attach it to the bottom of your unity candle. No one else will see this detail except for you and your fiance. But he will know that the fringe is there and will appreciate your effort. Speaking of fringe...you could buy several yards of fringe in your wedding colors at the fabric store and have it attached as a border along the top of one/several of the tables at the reception. For fringe...I'm thinking more along the fringe that you would see on a flapper's dress than the 1/8" wide cut strips of leather. LOL.

You can incorporate the western stuff in subtle ways that are natural elements of your wedding. I prefer to have these things where you know they are there and that will be special to your fiance, but they are not front and center either. That way, they do not detract from the elegant look you want to achieve and you still acknowledge his cowboyness.

If you are having seating charts, make the seat placement cards into a western theme like boots or cowboy hats. You can surprise him by playing a couple of his favorite country songs. Did you think of a western/southwestern menu for meals? Even having a specialty drink keeping with the western theme in whiskey glasses and with a play on it's name. Perhaps for the menu, you can have with with the food items by giving them cute western themed names. Even something simple, like the save the date cards or the wedding invites can have a rope theme to hark on the western concept.|||You could do an elegant wedding with a western feel to you just have to look for nice things, small touches of western, like......

1.Instead of a limo have a pretty horse %26amp; buggy

2.Instead of getting married in a church, find a nice outside venue.

3.Instead of having orchids %26amp; roses you could pick wild flowers like iris's, sunflowers or any other flower.

4.you could do white, just pair it with maybe a warmer color, even two colors to really make it pop, like olive green or a khaki color with the white.

5.Instead of you wearing a ballgown %26amp; him in a tux, you could wear a white wedding dress that is A-line %26amp; he could wear a nice suite with a suede cowboy hat.

These are just a few things that you could give a little western feel without going completely barnyard. Hope this helps or at least gives you some ideas to play with? Good luck %26amp; congrats on finding that special someone!!!!|||I would stick with the elegant wedding but have fun elements of western...

Such as, what you are wearing, and like what you said your groom is wearing... You and maybe even the bridesmaids should wear cowboy boots as well!!

It would be adorable for photos.

As well as maybe driving off in a tractor? Or a horse.

But, as for decorations, stick with elegance... It's easier to play off of to not look "tacky"....

I hope this helps!!

Use the setting to your advantage - whether it is outside on a beautiful farm with the horses or inside a barn with soft candle-light and lanterns it can look extremely classy. Have a look at these sites for some ideas...

My suggestion would be to have all of your bridesmaids where cowboy boots as well. they make really pretty ones.. and if they can not afford the boots you can wear some. My friend had beautiful white ones to match her dress. It would be a nce surprise for your fiance. Also, maybe you could find a local country western band to come and play your way down the aisle, that would also be a great surprise for him.

good luck!|||For most people a black-tie event is an uncomfortable thing. What you call an "elegant wedding" is in his mind a pretentious costume party. I think part of the problem here is that you're approaching this as YOUR wedding, and not as an event that belongs to the both of you equally.|||I rented out a restored barn. People use it for receptions. But I rented table cloths, china, silverware, etc... then I tented the outside for night dancing. We used candles and vases to create "mood lighting" and stayed away from flowers. I thought it would only make the barn look more "farmlike" with flowers. People still compliment me on my wedding.

ALSO --- instead of renting a limo (like I wanted) we decided to show up in his truck. It was actually really cute now that I look back on it :-)|||if your doing a grooms cake you can make it a cowboy theme which im sure he will love! and then also little things such as the party favors can be tied into his cow boy theme... mmm if your having music you can play some country weastern songs that will make everybody wanna get up and dance... and even your food can tie in also.. whatever cowboys eat ha minus the beans in a can thing ha|||You could use rope to help tie in (no pun intended) to the theme. Maybe have your bouquet and the attendents' bouquets tied with a thin rope instead of ribbon. You could use mason jars that are tied with pretty ribbon (or thin rope) and filled with pretty flowers (or wild flowers). The wildflowers would be good, too, in that it's "country".|||Here are some things that I liked at www.invitationsbydawn.com..
