Has anyone ever had an elegant wedding at home?

I was just wondering if anyone has had an elegant wedding at home? With the current economy, my husband and me have decided to see if we can plan an elegant renewal of vows in our home. We've got a decent sized backyard. We're not sure about inviting anyone yet. It's just an idea we've been tossing around.

IF you're wondering why we're having a renewal of vows, it's because our wedding day was ruined by other people. We're doing this for us.|||OMG you can have the best elegant and inexpensive wedding that anyone has ever had. a friend of mine had theirs three years ago and there is still talk about it.

most of the things they used was rented or better yet borrow from your church. tables and chairs. even the table linens. if you want you can even rent a white tend or even a gazebo. but all they did was to decorate all the trees with white lights and white netting it made it look like frost or snow it was beautiful. we helped make topiary done in whit and pink and yellow roses with ribbon streams hanging down and lights strung in them also all it was was Silk flowers and a foam ball on top of a wooden dowel in a pot of white gravel that you use around your flower bed. it all cost around 500 dollars. and of course friends helped out with the food. i made some hordovers from flour tortias, cream cheese, ham, roast beef and turkey, with black olives rolled up and sliced in a diagonal it was wonderful and others baked simple things. keep it simple. tea lights are cheap and can float in a large bowl of water or placed on top of decorative marbles. talk it over and look at your options even check out the thrift shops but first look at the yard and see what you want to do now. draw it out. look at magazines and make an album of ideas

if you need help just give me a holler ok?

i will be more than happy to.

and remember don't fight over all of this. have a a glass of wine and relax this is a very wonderful day for you so make it as easy as possible. if things get screwed up don't worry you are still getting married and life goes on. on my wedding day, my bridesmaid didn't hem up her dress so we tapped it. i tripped going up the stair the alter and just laughed it off as an air pocket so do sweat the little things

well have fun and keep safe and love each other

good luck v|||you have so many choices when you choose to have your ceremony at home.

you can have a gorgeous garden ceremony or a beautiful ceremony in front of the fireplace in your great room or a great backyard bash complete with b.b.q. by the swimming pool.

whatever you choose it will reflect your taste and your lifestyle - your family and friends will be pleased to be included. hope you have the perfect day for your ceremony.|||Yes....people theese days get married anywhere they feel comfortable. One of my friends got married at school. 0.o|||I had my dream wedding at my grandmother's house and it was very elegant and romantic. My mother and father got married there too, but in a different area of the place. Having it at a place I grew up around gave it comfort and intimacy. The way the 'alter' if you will was set up to take our vows had the brides maids and grooms men closer to me and my husband so it seemed less formal that way. My husband was in his military dress blues. His groomsmen had on nice slacks and shirts. No tuxes. To me tuxes seemed stiff. The men seemed really happy about that. I planned the whole thing. No wedding planner. My wedding was planned in only three weeks (he was going to be shipped off in the military). We had a four year engagement so only the planning was rushed not us. It went off without any problems. I did it without any experience in wedding planning and only a few weeks to do it in and in a family home. You can do it. But for sanity give yourself some advanced time and elect some family and friends to help you with some details. And by all means whomever ruined your wedding the first time don't invite them.

Best of wishes!
