I really want an elegant birthday... "Birthday party" sounds kind of childish, but I'm thinking along the lines of the movie Marie Antoinette. I want a birthday worthy of her... Any suggestions?|||1st I am sorry I haven't seen the movie or heard of it, but I do have an idea I can share. Hope it helps or gives you an idea.
For like your dining room table take like a really pretty table cloth maybe one with lace and have a small floral arrangement in the middle of it with a candle on each side put in candle vases. Have some appetizers maybe like a simple meat and cheese tray or a veggie tray.
For the person it is for , maybe make one of their favorite main dishes and for desert buy some mini graham cracker crusts and make mini cheesecakes and top off with like a couple of cherries or strawberries and then take like an icing piping bag and put cool whip in it and maybe put a dot of it on top in the middle with a fancy tip or go around the edges with it . Good luck on it and hope maybe you can use one of these ideas .|||For my 17th birthday, I wanted the same thing.
I hosted a Murder Mystery dinner party, and it was GREAT! It was also a tea-party, so all my friends came dressed up. We managed to rent a banquet room at a fancy-looking restaurant, and it didn't really cost as much as it could have. Each guest was a character in the murder mystery, and they all had lines to read over dinner. It turned out to be a lot of fun, and we even got the restaurant pianist to come play a role that we needed!! After dinner, each girl was able to choose a hot drink such as tea or hot chocolate, and the party favors were miniature teacup candle holders!
It was very elegant, and girly and fun at the same time!|||for an elegant party i wouldn't go overboard with the flowers, they tend to make parties tacky. but i would decorate with lots of crystals. and for dinner serve your wine in glasses, you didn't mention your age but if you can't serve alcohol you can get something dark like table wine without alcohol but make sure to cool it, because if you don't it will taste horrible.
for the setting put a white or beige tablecloth in your table and also add candles and if possible dim the lights. for the china i would use gold or silver colored plates but that also have white, cause if not, again, it will look tacky. for their napkins you can never go wrong with gold, black, navy blue, or burgundy and i'd go with fabric napkins instead of the disposable ones.
and if you want everyone to be in the mood you can have classical music in the background, and never leave your guest's glasses empty, even if it's just water.
send your invitations at least a week in advanced so they can be ready for it.
also if you want them to dress accordingly to your theme, let them know in your invitations. say that formal wear is required and bow ties are optional.
and i would recommend that for your dress not to over do it. just wear a simple black dress and a few diamonds (even if they are fake) like a small neck-less with bigger earrings or small earrings with a bigger neck-less and silver shoes. and your hair down into loose curls, those always look sexy, and try to smell good i like chanel mademoiselle it smells delicious.
for food you can serve salmon, oysters, or lobster, but make sure to serve in small portions and have a few other options so they can get a taste of everything, and for dessert serve cheesecake elegantly decorated.
good luck i hope this helps.
have fun!!|||Are your friends willing to come "dressed up", or will they be showing up in jeans and tee shirts? ... Have you seen the movie "Dr. Zhivago"? Especially the New Year's eve in Vienna:) .... Baked Brie in a puff pastry shell with crackers for an appetizer; decorate the plate with frosted grapes. A light, small watercress salad with sliced radishes and light vignarette dressing. A small cup of vichysoisse ... Chicken Cordon Bleu with steamed asparagus and roasted fingerling potatoes ... Creme Puffs or Chocolate Mousse for dessert. Serve some red Sparkling Cider with the meal......|||Dress code:semi-formal (men wear slacks girls wear dresses or nice skirt and blouse)
Dishes:their should be appetizers out as well as some sort of drink, get a nice table cloth to put on your table and serve what ever you want for the entree, then have a assortment of fingerfood type desserts that your guests can choose from.
Entertainment:get some nice music , plan some sort of activity , make sure you invite people who are compatible with each other so the conversations will flow smoothly.
